Horningtoft is a very small village, situated in the county of Norfolk, England, 6 miles south of Fakenham, 7 miles north of Dereham on the B1146.

The village made the headlines in the local newspaper in 1962 when it was reported as a dying village but we are still thriving. In the late 1970s the Church was threatened with closure but with grants and the help of villagers it was saved and rededicated in 1981 and it now plays a major part in our community. In 2001 the village was in the news again when we were fortunate to obtain a Local Heritage Initiative grant of £13500, to restore part of the churchyard wall and form a Heritage Society.

Homes in Horningtoft were left without power, after overhead cables were brought down in a snow storm on Thursday 17 December 2009.  At least 6 inches of snow fell and there was also thunder and lightning in the skies. Power was restored after 31 hours, by EDF workers, to see images of the repair and other snow photographs click here and follow the links.
